5 Reasons you need our modular website design service

Key takeaways

Unlike traditional website design that uses set templates for each type of page, modular websites are built using editable blocks. Pages are constructed from these blocks, giving content editors total flexibility and control whilst maintaining design consistency. This makes it faster (and cheaper) to edit content, make SEO adjustments. It supports a fast site speed, and ultimately keeps costs down long-term.

“We’ll have to rebuild that template”

*sighs*

It’s a common problem with website design; you have a set number of templates for all the different pages on your website, but you want to add in some extra content, and it just won’t fit. Now, you’re going to have to go back to your designer to redesign (and rebuild) the template.

Where’s the budget going to come from for that?

If you’re frustrated by an inflexible website, one that looks okay but is a nightmare to edit and takes ages to adapt, you’re not alone.

Many businesses come to us after investing thousands into a site that just… doesn’t adapt. It’s hard to update, doesn’t really reflect your current offer, and it’s not keeping up with how search engines (and users) behave today.

Often, these problems lead to a drop in conversion rate. The website just isn’t working hard enough to generate those all-important leads.

That’s exactly why we’ve taken a different approach to website design.

How is modular website design different?

Traditionally, websites are built using static templates for each page type (homepage, blog, case study, etc). You simply choose the template you want and add your content to the set fields.

The problem with this approach is that it’s really inflexible.

Want to tweak your service page layout? Tough.

Want to add a video demonstrating how to use a product you sell? Sorry, nowhere to put it.

Our modular websites ditch rigid templates.

Instead, we create branded, editable blocks: hero sections, CTAs, testimonials, FAQs, content grids and more. You can structure pages however you like, mixing and matching blocks to suit your content. This gives you total flexibility, control and design consistency.

Here are five reasons why you need a modular design service.

It’s faster and cheaper to edit content

One of the biggest frustrations business owners face after launching a website is realising that even small changes require developer time (and developer budgets).

Want to move a section further up the page? That’s next month’s budget blown.

Update the layout because your messaging has evolved? You’ll need to wait 3 months.

On a traditionally templated website, those changes can quickly become expensive and time-consuming.

With a modular build, editing is much quicker.

Because pages are made from reusable blocks, you can add, remove, or rearrange sections without redesigning the page from scratch. This means your marketing team can react faster, whether that’s adding extra content for better on-page SEO, testing new calls to action, or updating messaging based on sales feedback.

In short: fewer bottlenecks, lower costs, and a website that can evolve at the speed of your business.

It’s faster to improve online visibility

For those businesses that are working on the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) or their Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), inflexible page templates can really hinder your progress.

Say you want to rank for the keyword “recruitment agency Birmingham”. You type it into a search browser, and the top result shows a page that’s chock-full of useful content. You know that to even have a small chance of outranking your competitor, your content needs to be as, if not more helpful, than the page in the top slot.

But there’s no more space on your webpage.

So, you reach out to your designer and developer to get the page template redesigned, wasting time whilst your competitors reap the rewards of the top spot.

With a modular website design, you could have your newly structured webpage up and running by the close of business that day.

It’s easier to ensure design consistency

Consistency is what makes a website feel professional and trustworthy.

But when every page is designed separately, or edited over time by different people, things start to drift. Buttons look different, spacing changes, colours vary slightly, and before long, the site feels disjointed. This can be particularly true in large teams, where lots of people have access to the backend of the website.

A modular system solves this beautifully.

Each block is designed once, in line with your brand guidelines, and then reused across the site.

So when you add a new section or create a new page, it automatically follows the same visual rules: typography, colours, spacing, and layout all stay aligned.

The result is a website that feels cohesive, polished, and unmistakably you, even as it grows and changes over time.

It keeps your website speed fast

Website speed isn’t just a technical detail; it affects how people experience your site, how long they stay, and how well your pages rank in search engines.

A slow website leads to higher bounce rates (people leaving quickly), fewer enquiries, and lower visibility in Google.

In fact, Google reports that as page speed increases from 1 second to 5 seconds, the likelihood of a user bouncing away from the page (and therefore not engaging with your brand) increases by 90%.

One of the biggest causes of slow websites is bloated page builders.

Page builders (tools that let you design pages visually without coding – I’m looking at you, Elementor!) are popular because they’re easy to use. But they often load a large amount of extra code and functionality behind the scenes. The creators include a lot of features “just in case” you want to use them.

So even if you’re only using a handful of features, your website may still be loading dozens more, which increases page size and slows loading time.

Our modular approach avoids this problem.

Instead of loading everything at once, we build only the blocks your website actually needs. This keeps your site lightweight, clean, and efficient. The result is a faster, snappier experience for users, and a stronger technical foundation for SEO, conversions, and long-term growth.

It’s more cost-effective

Traditional website builds often look affordable at first, but the costs usually creep up over time.

If your site is built using rigid templates or hard-coded layouts, even small changes can require developer input. That often leads to ongoing website development retainers, or worse, needing a full redesign every few years when your business outgrows the structure you started with.

Both options can become expensive quickly.

A modular website is far more cost-effective in the long term. Because your pages are built from flexible, reusable blocks, you can update layouts, add new content, or expand your site without rebuilding everything from scratch.

Your team can make many of these changes themselves, reducing reliance on developers and lowering ongoing maintenance costs.

Instead of paying repeatedly to fix or redesign your website, you’re investing in a system that adapts as your business evolves, saving time, money, and stress.

Modular website design in action: A case study with Journey Africa

Still not convinced about the benefits?

Let’s take a look at how our modular website design approach improved the outcome for a luxury safari tour operator we recently worked with.

Journey Africa offers bespoke itineraries across Africa using its extensive expertise and trusted networks.

Using our modular approach, we were able to build their entire site block-by-block, giving them complete control and flexibility.

This turned out to be essential to the success of the project.

Partway through the build, it became clear that Journey Africa wanted to amend the design of their parent pages, creating a little distance between the page title and the image that was pulled through from the child pages.

We made a single update to the block, and it updated everywhere.

Now that the content was written, they also decided to change the layout of the tour itinerary pages. We swapped blocks around easily and reordered the layout without rebuilding anything.

Quick and simple.

With the animations in place, they felt that the original Call To Action block did not hit the mark.

We replaced it with a different version in minutes.

They loved the block we created to highlight the brand’s unique selling points and wondered if we could use it elsewhere.

We were able to add it quickly to the about us page, maintaining brand consistency.

Every page on the site feels tailored to the content, but the brand design remains cohesive throughout.

Here’s what Journey Africa‘s owner, Steve Upton, had to say about our modular website design service:

“Journey Africa builds luxury safari itineraries for a variety of clients from scratch. It’s a completely bespoke itinerary – and no two journeys are the same. So when I came to think about websites I wanted to take the same approach. I could have gone down a different route, but I wanted that bespoke approach to our website. So to start with Twogether were great at taking my ideas and moulding them into a structure for the website that worked. When it came to designing the actual pages of the website, I wanted to keep that bespoke approach. The modular website design approach really helped with that. In the original design phase we were able to structure pages easily and with consistency. Then later in the design as we adjusted, that process was much more straightforward. Pages didn’t need a full redesign, instead we were able to adjust the place of blocks, or keep the same content and choose a different block style that perhaps highlighted things in a different way. Overall this means the website has great design and looks bespoke.”

That’s the power of modular design.

Modular website design: for businesses that want freedom

Your website shouldn’t be something that holds your business back. It shouldn’t require a redesign every time your offer evolves, your SEO strategy changes, or you want to try something new. And it definitely shouldn’t drain your budget simply because your content no longer fits a rigid template.

A modular website gives you freedom, freedom to adapt, improve, and grow without friction. It allows your marketing team to move faster, your brand to stay consistent, and your website to keep working hard as your business changes. Instead of being locked into yesterday’s decisions, you have a flexible foundation that can evolve with you.

If you’re tired of battling templates, waiting on developers, or feeling like your website just doesn’t keep up anymore, it might be time to rethink the way your site is built.

Because the best websites aren’t just well designed, they’re designed to grow alongside your business.
