A Bathe Electrics is an electrical company, specialising in domestic electrical repairs and based in south Birmingham. When they approached us they were a relatively new company and had no independent online presence. A Bathe Electrics had no website. They were gaining leads from personal referrals and from paid directories. The paid directories were expensive and many enquiries did not convert into sales. The company did not want to be reliant on directory referrals and wanted to secure its enquiry line by developing its own website and enquiry stream.

How we helped

During our initial discovery meeting, it became clear that A Bathe Electrics had a very clearly defined target audience – namely domestic homes in the south Birmingham region. We discussed the range of services that the company provided and the ethos of the company.

The company already had a logo and a tagline in mind, so using this as the basis, along with our discussions, we designed a new website.

Researching the target audience, we quickly established the website should have a simple, structured, jargon-free layout with an eye-catching design to draw visitors in.

How we helped

Once the website was built, we began the process of developing the copy for the site. This involved researching the keywords that potential customers were using to search for the services that A Bathe Electrics provide. This was used to write copy to populate the site. The aim was to provide information that would help and inform customers.

The keyword research also formed the backbone of the technical SEO on the site. Technical SEO involves improving the data search engines use to read the content of the website. It would allow search engines to direct the right users to the right pages on the site.

Content Marketing

Now that the website was built and populated with copy and images, the task of improving the website’s ranking in the search engine results began. This took the form of a Content Marketing Retainer. To begin with, we developed a content marketing strategy that would provide content that residents would find helpful, and informative and would answer the questions they had about all the electrical jobs in their homes.

The performance of the website was measured every three months initially, moving to every month as the website gained traction online. After a few months, it became clear that there was potential to add another enquiry line to the mix – that of Facebook recommendations. A Direct Messaging campaign was developed that would allow A Bathe Electric’s brand awareness to grow and generate leads directly via instant messaging.

The Impact

Analysis of the enquiry data from the first six months of the content marketing strategy showed that 35% of all enquiries were now being generated via social media and organic search results, as a direct consequence of the content marketing strategy. This has ensured that the company is not reliant on tradesman directories alone for it’s leads.
